JAG 30th Anniversary Report

Response to the Jobs for America's Graduates 30th Anniversary Report:

Jobs for America’s Graduates 30th anniversary annual report has been released and a PDF copy is attached.  Special items of note are a picture of our very own Leta White on page 13 (bottom right), profiles of JCG alums Tracey Hayes and Anne Brinkley on page 36, and memorials to JCG student Amanda Elliot and Specialist Diane Warren on page 36.

It is important to note that the individual state information on pages 41 – 46 is from 2009-2010 and today’s reality may be very different in many states.  For instance, the report indicates that Jobs for Ohio’s Graduates had 76 JAG programs and was the highest number in all JAG states.  This was before Ohio state funding was eliminated.  I believe today’s Ohio number is more like 45 programs.  On the bright side, JCG had 11 programs in 2009-10 and still has 11 programs today!  I know we are all committed to future growth, but some times may not realize how well we have weathered the storm so far.

On an organization structure note, 19 of the 30 JAG state programs are operated out of state government.  This includes surrounding states of Indiana, Kentucky, and Michigan. (Pennsylvania did not have JAG programs in 2009-10.)  The remaining 11 states have not-for-profit structures, with all but Ohio being state-wide organizations.
