Jobs for Cincinnati Graduates (JCG) Launches Website,
Hosts Alumni Party for Hundreds
Jobs for Cincinnati Graduates (JCG) a non-profit corporation created by the Cincinnati business community in 1982 is now live at www.jobsforcincinnatigraduates.org. For 24 years, JCG has served at-risk, low-income 9th-12th grade students in Cincinnati and Hamilton County high schools, based on the Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) service model. Students who have been identified by the schools as likely to dropout, or lacking the skills to make a successful transition to adulthood, as well as recent dropouts, are beneficiaries of the program.
JCG serves 800 youth at nine high schools in five school districts — East End Heritage Community School, Entrepreneurship High School, Norwood, Princeton, Purcell Marian, Western Hills Design Technology, Winton Woods, Woodward Traditional, and Woodward Career and Technical High School. Oyler On-Line Plus, Aiken College and Career High Schools are slated to join the program later this year.
“JCG’s Career Specialists have achieved extraordinary results in reducing the dropout rate,” offers Pam Black, JCG Development Director. “Our retention rate is over 94% for both high school and college students. And over 90% of our youth graduate, which translates to a more educated, thus more qualified, workforce.”
“More than 14,000 youth have benefited from JCG programs. Part of our mission is to reconnect with our alumni, celebrate their success stories, and invite them to join JCG’s Alumni Association,” said Black. JCG will host a free alumni reunion party on August 20, 2006. Online registration is available for both the Alumni Association and Reunion Party at www.jobsforcincinnatigraduates.org.
Black adds “In 2005, we realized that if we wanted to be able to help even more students, we needed to connect them with successful graduates of our program. We felt a key component in that strategy was to use the Web to reach out to alumni. We chose Sanger & Eby to design and develop our website to both connect current students with successful alumni, as well as communicate the existence of the program to potential candidates.”
Lisa Sanger, co-founder of Sanger & Eby, states, “JCG provides a much-needed service by giving students the support they need to stay in school. Their work bodes well for our entire community, and Sanger & Eby was excited to deploy our design and development talent to help JCG continue its invaluable mission.”
