Weathering the Economic Storm Fund May 2011
Jobs for Cincinnati Graduates receives funding from Weathering the Economic Storm Fund Cincinnati, OH (May 25, 2011) – Jobs for Cincinnati Graduates received a grant from the Weathering the Economic Storm Fund, a partnership of funders, managed by the Greater Cincinnati Foundation. JCG received a total of $15,000 from the fund for both its Connect to Success Drop-out Recovery Program and its High School to Career Drop-out Prevention & Successful Transition Program. The Weathering the Economic Storm Fund was initiated by the Greater Cincinnati Foundation to provide economic stability for individuals, families, and non profit organizations across the community. JCG is very thankful for this funding and support from the Cincinnati community that will help to ensure the success of the city’s youth. JCG gives special thanks to the Greater Cincinnati Foundation and the Weathering the Economic Storm Fund for their generosity and support. Jobs for Cincinnati Graduates, established in 1982, supports high school to career programs located in 9 local area high schools, serving 550 students annually. JCG’s vision is to lead every student to graduation, a successful career, and lifelong learning. The two most important outcomes of JCG’s performance are that 94% of their students graduated with their class or obtained a GED and that 81% successfully transitioned to college or a career. This grant will allow JCG to maintain the level of excellence of its services and allows it to continue to make a substantial impact on the community and the lives of Cincinnati’s youth. Connect2Success' mission is to connect out of school youth ages 16 to 21 to student driven and student centered successful learning that leads to graduation, post-secondary education or certificated training, and employment. Within the dropout recovery program, Connect2Success assists its customers with needs that allow them to achieve their education, life and career goals. For the majority of Connect2Success’ customers, transportation is a primary need, that when provided allows its participants to search for employment and travel to and from school with their children. Connect to Success’ customers truly have been “Weathering the Economic Storm” and all are grateful for the financial support awarded through this grant.
