Teacher of the Year 2011

CINCINNATI, OH, June 1, 2011 — Jobs for Cincinnati Graduates (JCG) is proud to announce that Abasi Key was honored by the students of Purcell Marian High School who awarded him the “Teacher of the Year.” The tradition at Purcell Marian (and Purcell before it) has always been for the senior class to select a “Teacher of the Year.” The selection is announced at the annual Honors Day Assembly as one of the seniors’ final acts before graduation. JCG student, senior Cory Klauder presented Mr. Key with his award. Cory will be attending Cincinnati State Technical and Community College in the fall of 2011.

Mr. Key was born in Chicago and raised in Forest Park, Ohio. He has a B.S. in Allied Health from West Virginia State University and M.A. in Leadership Studies (Human-Relations/Administration) from Marshall University. He has taught entrepreneurship courses, cultural diversity, and basic living skills training. He is a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc., the NAACP, Southwest Ohio High School Football Coaches Association, and a West Virginia State University Ambassador Alumnus. The Teacher of the Year is also given the honor of delivering an address at the end of the year Closing Faculty Mass.
