YWCA Career Women of Achievement Awards 2010

Jobs for Cincinnati Graduates is extremely proud of our student, Queshronda Bollings of Aiken College and Career High School for being nominated and awarded the Mamie Earl Sells Scholarship Award. The YWCA of Greater Cincinnati will host their 31st annual YWCA Salute to Career Women of Achievement Luncheon on May 13, 2010 at the Duke Evergy Convention Center.

This article first appeared in print Sunday, March 28.

Collectively they manage more than $15.6 billion in revenue and expenses and 3,320 employees at some of the region's most prominent companies and institutions.

They're the eight YWCA Career Women of Achievement for 2010, whose accomplishments will be honored at the 31st anniversary awards luncheon May 13 at the Duke Energy Convention Center downtown.

The YWCA established the awards in 1980 to recognize women who are role models and mentors in the workplace and community. In the three decades since, more than 242 professional women have been named in the program that's become one of the region's most recognized for business achievement.

"This year's class is a group of pioneering women who are incredible role models and important leaders in our community," says Charlene Ventura, president and chief executive officer of the YWCA of Greater Cincinnati.

Emmy award-winning actress Alfre Woodard will be keynote speaker at the luncheon.

Her credits include television performances in "Hill Street Blues," "L.A. Law," "The Practice" and "Desperate Housewives." Woodard was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the 1983 film "Cross Creek." She also appeared in "Star Trek: First Contact" and in "Down in the Delta."

Queshondra Bolling, a senior at Aiken College and Career High School, is winner of the Mamie Earl Sells Scholarship Award. Yvonne Bradley, a pre-business major at Cincinnati State Technical & Community College, is this year's Charlotte R. Schmidlapp Fund Scholarship recipient.
