Tikheta (Hayes) Johnson- Woodward High School, class of 2002 . I am currently working at JP Morgan Chase Mortgage Corporation in Columbus, Ohio. I  attended Cincinnati State and the University of Cincinnati, and currently work full time. My experience with JCG helped me develop confidence in myself which I never had before. It helped me prepare for the working world by being able to build a great resume that big corporations look for. Everything I have learned through JCG I have been able to apply in the work place and my personal life.

Nancy Johnson- Aiken High School, Class of “1992”    From JCG student to JCG Career Specialist, Nancy Johnson as a senior at Aiken High School remembers sitting in class pondering to herself -“What am I going to do after high school?” “What am I good at doing?” These were the kinds of questions that deluged my mind in high school.  I did not know what I planned to do after graduation.  It was at that time Eugene Bouldin, Senior Career Specialist at Aiken High School during the 2001-2002 school year, sat me down and asked this question.  What are your plans after high school?  I explained to him that I didn’t know and I really haven’t thought much about it.  He asked me what I enjoy doing and what would I do for “Free”.  I explained to him that I enjoy working with people, I love talking, and I really liked working with children.  It was at that moment that I realized- I needed to start thinking about my future!   It was at that moment that I realized- I would like to become a Teacher.  I always enjoyed working with children and it was something that I loved to do, even if there was no monetary gift involved.   After graduating from high school in June of 1992, I enrolled in Cincinnati State Technical and Community College where I completed 1 year of coursework and maintained a 3.25 GPA.  In August of 1994 I enrolled in Xavier University as a second year sophomore.  I decided to major in Elementary and Special Education. I successfully completed the program in December of 1997, earning a Bachelor of Science in Elementary and Special Education.   After graduation I taught within Cincinnati Public Schools for 4 years, working with students who were academically and socially challenging.  After teaching for several years, I was not completely satisfied with being a traditional classroom teacher.

In August of 2001, I accepted a position as a Career Specialist with Jobs for Cincinnati Graduates.  This career move changed my life and I have finally found my true “Passion” for teaching, mentoring and leading young lives through the vehicle that changed my life, which was education.  The Jobs for Cincinnati Graduates program has been a destiny decision for me since 1992.  I have been blessed to be an integral part of so many young people lives.  It all started from someone who cared about my future ask this simple question- What are your plans after high school? Look what can happen if we reach out to young people who don’t have any direction….. We can change their direction…….. For life……
